Sorry Friends

To anybody who still checks out this website despite my nearly month long absence – I will not be posting again for a while. Life has been so busy lately, but I’m working on a new project to branch off from this blog. It’ll be my own domain – with content as seen on this blog, as well as lots of other exciting stuff. πŸ™‚ I promise to keep you posted (somewhat…), and to keep reading all of your blogs when I can. Thank you!

Betsey Johnson & Zebra Print

Some of Betsey Johnson‘s bag designs are a little too out there for my taste, but her monochromatic zebra bags have caught my eye. I decided to throw the pink one in there as well. Hit or miss? I apologize for not posting lately; I’m so busy with work, but I promise to spend more time on this blog. Fashion withdrawals! I know this post is nothing groundbreaking, but at least it’s something. By the way, all of the photos above are from the online shop Karmaloop, which you can visit by clicking the link below.

SOS: Jacket Drapery

This is the beginning of an ongoing feature of my blog, called Steal or Splurge. I’ll show two pieces that aim to satisfy a certain look or trend, one being a more expensive designer piece, with the other being something that most of us can probably afford. So tell me – which do you like better? The first photo is of Nasty Gal‘s Draped Rebecca Jacket ($78), while the second is Illia‘s Leather Draped Jacket ($506).

I need to apologize to my Japanese readers for not translating my posts lately. All old entries will soon be available in both English and Japanese – I promise!

VFW: Drew William

Here’s the first round of photos from Vancouver Fashion Week S/S 2010. Drew William is an Edmonton-born designer based out of Vancouver who specializes in avant garde menswear. Having studied at Emily Carr University, as well as Central Saint Martins in London, he has an interesting perspective that you wouldn’t expect from a designer on this side of the Atlantic.

His Spring/Summer 2010 collection explores the use of shapes and lines. The chosen models walked the runway at a shuffle – perhaps to compliment the over-all “zombie” styling. Drew managed to mix really unusual pieces in a way that for the most part doesn’t look tacky, or fashion student-ish at all. I thought that the thin ropes tied at the ankles was an interesting touch, and the obvious use of cut-outs through various pieces is unique and edgy. While many designers are using sheer fabrics to expose a little taste of skin here and there, Drew William doesn’t tease and instead shows us exactly what lies beneath the structured capes, shirts, and sleeves.

The last photographs are of the designer Drew William, and an image of lines being drawn on a hand that showed on the runway before the models began walking. There are lots of great pictures from this show, so you might see the pictures in this post changing around during the next few days. Let me know what you think of this collection! Below are closer pictures showing more clearly the details, as well as the unusual make-up job.

Vancouver Fashion Week (!!!)

It looks like Vancouver Fashion Week is finally over. I had an AMAZING time tonight; took tons of photos, met lots of interesting people. I managed to get a great seat (thanks to the friendly girls working tonight!), and scored a media bag full of info about the sponsors and featured designers. Keep checking the blog, because the next few posts will be filled with information, commentary and photos from the shows that I saw. I’m so excited to tell you all about it! The photo above is a design by Tammy Larkin; most of what she showed was “avante garde menswear”, but I thought this outfit was pretty interesting. All VFW photos posted on this blog were taken by myself unless otherwise stated. (:

VFW & Other Belated News

(photo source:

Hello everyone! After not updating for more than a week, I feel like I’ve got to post some exciting stuff to make it up to my readers. I’ve just started a new job, and after working all day I pretty much come home and pass out, haha. Not a lot of time to devote to fashion, sadly. Tomorrow I’m (finally) attending the last day of Vancouver Fashion Week! The final show is going to be an International Design Competition of sorts, with entrants from Germany, Norway, USA, Canada, and so on… or so I’ve heard. I promise to post a million pictures and babble on and on about anything beautiful that I see! Also showing tomorrow is menswear’s Drew William, who worked with Danish designer Henrik Vibskov before debuting his own collection for F/W 2009. Check out the Lookbook featured on his website.

I’ve also discovered a competition called America’s Most Stylish Blogger, in which 8 style-savvy girls are sent one new item per week to create a cool outfit around. It’s being presented by and My personal favourites are Trang Huyen of Behind The Seams, Nikki Moose of Dirty Flaws and Tiffany Tse of Style Sophisticate. This week’s round involves a killer pair of grey Prada booties, which you can see below, as photographed by Trang Huyen. So jealous.

On a different note, I found another blog with the name “The Daily Doll”, which seems to have been created earlier this month. Feeling a little bummed because I thought I had found something unique and personal, which someone else has now claimed as their own. Oh well, it is just the internet after all, and people are bound to come up with the same ideas now and then.

Oh, and by the way, the 2009 BMC Graduation Fashion Show is now scheduled for Tuesday, November 24th! I’ll see you there. (;
